Hello! My name is Vicki Skyvalidas, and I am so excited about going back to India this summer!
What thrills me the most -- besides the opportunity to minister alongside you all and eat lots of spicy curry, of course -- is the way that God faithfully fulfills His promises. He is truly my delight! And I expect His Spirit to continue to do amazing things!
Long ago, He gave me a passion for His Word and a fascination for the world's cultures and languages.I have traveled to forty countries and lived for extended periods of time in Greece, France, and South Korea.
Since coming off the World Race eight months ago, I have been taking seminary courses and pursuing a masters degree in education.I absolutely love playing with kids and helping people express themselves. In order to do that effectively, I believe that they need to experience the freedom and empowerment that comes from understanding their identity in Christ.
So that is my prayer.Let's go share the good news and build the Kingdom of God!
Please note: All details are subject to change at a moment's notice.
Below is what is currently planned for your team, but remember that
God's plans for your trip always trump our plans.
Your
local ministry partner (name protected) is continuing and increasing its
ministry to the poor of Andhra Pradesh. There are many millions of people
living in the state of Andhra Pradesh who live in rural villages and have no
safe water to drink (and oftentimes no water at all.), no electricity and not
enough food to eat. Many of these
are dalits (lowest caste), and in addition to their daily hardships, they also
suffer from discrimination and violence.Your host's heart is to help the poor of AP as much as possible.

women must always have legs covered in public (no shorts or short skirts).

page will suffice
Note: must always stay together as a group; will have additional cultural training at camp
You should have received an
e-mail containing the information needed to get an Indian Visa for the
trip. If you did not receive that e-mail I need you to contact me at
770-983-1060 ext: 246 by Thursday April 22.
I hope that you are all super excited and getting ready for this trip! Here are the first of many details I will be getting to you.
First of all, you need to know that what I tell you is always subject to change by your ministry contact. So with that said, ladies, you will need to have long skirts that cover the ankle, shirts that cover your shoulders, and at least one scarf to cover your shoulders and head at times. Any time you are outside the house this is what you need to have on. This also includes but is not limited to, any and all ministry sites and any church event that you will go to.
Second thing, you need to know that if your ministry contact, leader, or host ever ask you to cover up a tattoo or remove a piercing we expect you to respect them and comply.
There is an updated packing list on your profile, please look it over carefully for a lot has changed.
I sent out an email this week as a reminder that I need you to fill out all of your medical information and upload your passport. If you have not done that, please log onto your profile and fill that out. Also your medical insurance needs to be an INTERNATIONAL plan. Please call me if there is any confusion on this.
If any of you have any questions or if you need anything clarified, please let me know. I am here for you and want you all to have a successful trip!
